Winter project is done enough for a test ride. New tires and tubes, new brake shoes, carb cleaned, pulleys polished, deglazed clutch pads. Still waiting on the correct replacement belt, but that's easy enough for later. Feels nice to be on two wheels again.

60mi grocery run, gotta clock some miles before the snow (possibly) shows up. Route: North Portland to St Johns by way of Kelly Point Cross the bridge and head up 30 to Sauvie Island Do the loop and head back the way you came Instead of heading directly home take Willamette along the ridge and watch the sun set then head to pick up groceries for the week. Will want a bike that can keep up with traffic that exceeds 55 for the stretch between Linton and the island. Speed limit on the island is mostly 45. That said if you're comfortable, there's a wide shoulder that I often see bicycles on so just be safe. #pdxscooterrides

Word of advice to anyone, if you are stopped in the road, please watch your mirrors. To the "gentleman" who, I'll say graciously was from out of town, yes every surface street intersection in Oregon is, indeed, a crosswalk. To quote the Crosswalk guidelines for Portland: [quote https://www.portland.gov/transportation/traffic-operations/crosswalk-guidelines ] Every intersection, and certain midblock locations, are legal crosswalks in Oregon (ORS 801.220). Crosswalks vary in their design; some are unmarked, while others have stop lines, median islands, rapid flashing beacons or other elements that can improve safety. [/quote] To this same "gentleman" just because you don't see lines painted on the road, I know it's hard to understand that it's expected you stop (if safe to do so) and let a person walk across the street. I'm sorry you thought that it was a good idea to just dive alongside for fun and yell THIS ISN'T A CROSS WALK THERE'S A LINE OF TRAFFIC at 40mph because you feel entitled to.  I'm sorry sir, it seems you have an anger problem. I hope that the rest of your day goes exactly as you expect it to, if only for everyone who happens to find them self near you at any point in time. I'm safe, bikes safe, pedestrian is safe. So I did a 50-ish mi ride to run some errands, because you gotta make sure the bikes dry after washing. Most places were closed for the holiday. I can respect that. Highlight though was I get to the hardware store, park, helmet off, toss gloves under the seat, lock up and start walking away from the bike while a pickup truck pulls in. "Partner partner!" I hear a dude yell. I turn around to see a huge dude, shaved bald, safety green tee. Internal monologue is "fuck what now" "Dude I fucking love your bike, that's sexy as hell" A lady person is getting out of the truck. I start to say thanks, he just keeps going. "You know sometimes when you have a dark red on a black bike it all blends in but yours just pops" "Yeah" I replied while he was still talking. "Yeah that bike makes my dick move in a certain way" he continues. "Oh geeze" she mutters. "Well you know" he retorts to her. "Glad I could inspire" I say as we go in different directions. Apparently this bike attracts a type.

..... fine, I'll wash my scoot. @dressed_up_converse thanks for the tip on that black wax, seems like it works nicely.

Little weekend road trip with family

Lil fucker progress report. Exhaust bolted up, poor swingarm has a lot of wear because at some point in this bikes past things rattled loose. Figures. Lubed the last of the cables from the headset. Harness connected to engine. All engine plumbing attached and checked for proper flow. Can't find my collection of pins so will run to the store in the morning when it's nice out. Enough progress for today. Garage attire was fitting for this bike

A little over 110mi run today Felt nice to just be out NoPo to St Johns cross the bridge Up German town Skyline to McNamee Take CornPass and snake your way over to North Planes Enjoy the traffic circles on your way to Forest Grove Up to Bald Peak Down 219 and feel sad about the empty SeeSee's location in Newberg Up 99w to 217 so you can head to Beaverton for snacks. Then head back to skyline to loop back thru St Johns because there's an art sale going on out back of the now closed SeeSee's in St Johns. #pdxscooterrides

Taking a break to just listen to the thunder and the rain. I hope you are safe I hope you are in a space where you can take a moment for yourself today.

I was able to spend some time in the garage after work. More grime removed Cables lubed. Replaced shifters and clutch because they were extremely gross and sticky. So far all others move freely and don't look overly greasy. Makes sense as those three are the most exposed. The list of issues keeps getting smaller, but this bike being this bike I always find myself faced with the unexpected. Today's surprise was a painted over screw from the hardware store rather than the proper pivot for the clutch. Easy enough but that's the fun of this bike, or so I'm told. Tried to save a few knarps, but that adjustor for the clutch is toast. Was worth a shot.

It's always something with this project. Ignition switch rewired and a few layers of paint and grime removed from the gas cap. Shot of clear just to keep the rust at bay. #lilFucker you'll be back on the road.... sometime.

Good run to Eugene and back. Left North Portland a little after 10am. Gas up in Corvallis, stop for lunch. Stop at a thrift store (or two), sadly no treasure found. Head north, gas in Halsey, and home by 6p. Total trip was 266mi A little over 6h of saddle time. Just over 3gal used on the trip. Sorry to all the bugs in squished. RIP to all the creatures dead on the side of the road. ❤️🛵🎉

Today was too good not to get in a scooter ride to somewhere. Followed @durkadurka2 's idea for Eugene and had lunch at @cornbreadcafe , thanks for the yummy meal! Basically took 99W down and am basically going to take 99E home. Easy way to get in lots of miles via 55mph roasts.

Great day for a scoot Portland to Newberg by way of Gresham and Oregon City to get coffee at @seeseemotorcoffee then down to McMinnville to hang out and watch the race. Then head back thru Newberg and Oregon City then Boring and Sandy to head up to Vista house and then swing by @levelbeer on the way home. 215 miles about $15 in gas and a whole day of adventure. Not the worst way to spend a Saturday.

Review of the flaming hot Cheetos flavor mac-n-cheese. Disappointed: It's not really red it's more of a dark pink. It's American spicey, would not say flaming hot. It's not cheezy, just "creamy", and I'm guessing that's more because of the sour cream I added. I think I paid a fair price at $1.29 for 5 boxes. If you want the better version of what this is trying to be just add some good hot sauce to a good bowl of mac-n-cheese, you'll have a better dinner than I'm having.

Someday are just too much I'm grateful that I have this bike I'm grateful that I live in this gorgeous corner of the world I'm grateful that I can get away some times ❤️🛵🎉 Post work roast up to Vista house, they took down the barriers that blocked off parking and looks like things may be open for the season. Didn't see any provisions for collecting a toll so /shrug on that news.

Thought I was clever, instead I just broke stuff. Good news it's just a temp sensor and I think I have a spare, but still. #agentofchaos ❤️🛵🎉

Well that was a productive shakedown run. Broke the front brake bolt while re-adjusting 😬 fortunately I had a spare cable clamp. Wrong size but worked enough... One of the shift cables popped out of the housing in the headlamp. That was a fun fix. Temp gague is completely wrong, will need to get that sorted. All in all not too bad, we do shakedowns for reasons.

First official shakedown done, only sketchy bit was when the cable clamp for the down shift cable let loose... 😬 Ehh I can limp along in second for a bit. Fortunately it didn't run away so it was a simple fix. Oh no I have to get some more miles in, darn! 😂 ❤️🛵🎉 Thanks to everyone who's helped with this project, couldn't have done it with out you!

... and we're back! Pro tip: if you read the instructions 5+ times and you've triple checked everything... Go back and read the product description because @sipscootershop points out that you don't actually need the Koso rev filter that they recommend and can actually just run a wire off the CDI 🤦 Well that's two days of "learning" behind me and now everything is working enough. ❤️🛵🎉

Spring "snowfall"

Thank you @paddyfitz16 for being smart and sharing fantastic ideas. Getting over the last few stumbling blocks on the rewiring job for the Sprint. Turns out the cheap outlet covers are perfectly sized for the stuff I wanted mounted in the bike so I didn't have a bunch of loose wires in the storage shed. Forward progress ❤️🛵🎉 For clarification, not completely done yet but with stuff mapped out it's down hill from here.

OMGPonies🤤 Thank you @humbledumplingpdx for this little mid day snack. I got a sampler with pork gyoza, taco dumpling, and cheeseburger. I was in a savory mood so didn’t venture to the sweet part of the menu. Dumplings are fantastic, crispy skins and rich fillings. The sauces though are out of this world. You’ll have to ask but if they have any of the extra hot oil add that to your selection. It’s full flavor while being both hot and the perfect compliment to what ever dumpling you just dipped. And artwork on my bag of takeout 🤩 12/10 will definitely be coming back.

My brain... Get a small frame, it'll be fun to lean new stuff. Also my brain... Why is this here, who thought this would be a good idea. Well brain, after much effort and minimal blood loss we now have a better pipe in the bike. Two more jobs for this bike before spring scoot. One is easy and "requires" me to take the easy bike to the hardware store. And now that the rains passed it will be the long way there.

More scoot flexing just for @elcaminodreams 98mi with 1.2g so just shy of 80mpg. Not bad for premium. The Vespa gauge only really the bottom half of the tank so this is more like 1/4 of a tank... still cheap fun no matter how you slice it.

Almost 60mi run today. It was good to do some wet weather testing on the new helmet. R1 passes with no leaks, held up fine in the hail, and didn't put up a fuss when's we had puddles thrown at us by passing cars. #winterriderschallenge

Another 160ish miles behind me. Given that east was blustery, I headed south. Made it to Silverton and then worked my way back. Was a nice day to be on two wheels. ❤️🛵🎉

I was promised a 50°day by my weather app.... reality decided something different. 25mi added to the odometer, something > nothing.
